Major Calendar Plugin Upgrade

We're happy to announce a software upgrade that adds exciting new functionality to our plugins!

As you may know, our Calendar plugin comes bundled with its own CalDAV server, allowing you to connect to it using external calendar applications. However, many customers mentioned they already have a running CalDAV server to which they'd like to connect their Roundcube calendar.

We have now added this functionality to the Calendar plugin, so if you're running your own CalDAV server, such as NextCloud, you can easily view and edit its events directly in Roundcube!

This is just the first of many additions and improvements that the Calendar plugin received with this upgrade. Here are a few highlights:

    • You can now add a contact birthday calendar.
    • There's an auto-refresh option to keep your calendar events up-to-date.
    • The calendar share controls include contact autocomplete.
    • The UI has been rebuilt to provide more action feedback.
    • You can double-click on events to edit them and press ESC to cancel.

    And much more!

The full list of changes and additions is available in the change log files, which are available for preview on each skin and plugin page.

However, the Calendar wasn't the only plugin that received an upgrade:

    • The 2FA plugin got a UX refresh and gained some new behind-the-scenes security enhancements.
    • The Dropbox plugin received fixes to its file attachment system.
    • The Email Scheduler's timezone functions were fixed.
    • The Quotes plugin got its quotes translated into German, French, Dutch, Italian, and Portuguese.
    • The Signature plugin got new social icons that replaced the old Twitter icons.

Additionally, all the plugins had their AJAX systems upgraded to be fully compatible with the latest standards; the progress bars and icons were recreated and streamlined; password boxes gained show/hide buttons; and the color selectors were changed to use native browser controls.

With this release, we have also increased the required PHP version for all our skins and plugins to 7.4+ and discontinued support for Internet Explorer. Keep this in mind when upgrading.

The upgraded software is available for download in the customer area of our website. We hope you enjoy the new functionality!
